The Product Markup feature is an optional fee that allows users to offset rising business costs by charging a transparent and adjustable fee.

How Does the Product Markup Work?

 

 

Floranext's Product Markup feature comes with the following features:
 

Product Markup Fee Percentage: Offset business costs by charging a percentage fee on orders. The percentage set here will apply based on an order's Product Subtotal. 
 

Product Markup Fee Label: Users can name the Product Markup Fee anything they would like (e.g. Tariff Fee). The Product Markup's label will show on both the Take Order Page and Website Checkout if enabled. As well as on all printed and emailed receipts, and reporting.
 

Available for both Point of Sale & Website Checkout: You may include your Product Markup on both your Point of Sale and Website Checkout flows! See below for instructions on how to set up your Product Markup

 

 


 

How to Enable the Product Markup for POS

 

 

By default the Product Markup is disabled. To enable the Product Markup for your POS follow these steps:

 

  • Navigate to Settings > POS Settings
  • Scroll to Advanced Settings in the center of the page
  • Toggle the setting Enable Product Markup For POS to be Yes
  • Set the percent for the fee under the setting Product Markup Fee Percentage field
  • Set the label for the fee under the Product Markup Fee Label field
  • Click the Save button

 

Notes on the Product Markup for POS:
 

  • Updates to the Product Markup Fee Label and Product Markup Fee Percentage fields will also show on the Website Settings view of these settings.
  • On the Take Order Page, you may edit the Product Markup Fee Percentage on a per order basis. This is not available on the website. 
  • You must have a POS Advanced package to access the Product Markup for POS.  

 

 


 

How to Enable the Product Markup for Web

 

 

By default the Product Markup is disabled. To enabled the Product Markup for your website follow these steps:

 

  • Navigate to Settings > Website Settings
  • Scroll to Advanced Settings at the bottom of the page
  • Toggle the setting Enable Product Markup Fee For Web to be enabled
  • Set the percent for the fee under the setting Product Markup Fee Percentage field
  • Set the label for the fee under the Product Markup Fee Label field
  • Click the Save button

 

Notes on the Product Markup Fee for Web:

  • Updates to the Product Markup Fee Label and Product Markup Fee Percentage fields will also show on the POS Settings view of these settings.
  • The Product Markup for web can be enabled from either Website Settings or POS Settings

 

 


 

Frequently Asked Questions

 

Q: What does the Product Markup Fee Apply to?

  • A: As mentioned above the Product Markup fee only applies to an order's Product Subtotal. This means that Delivery Charges and Wire Out Fees are NOT included in the Product Markup's fee. 

 

Q: Is the Product Markup Fee Taxable?

  • A: Yes, the Product Markup fee is considered taxable income.

 

Q: Is the Product Markup Fee the same as a Credit Card Surcharge?

  • A: Product Markup fees are not Credit Card Surcharges as they do not meet most local regulations for Credit Card Surcharging. For information on Floranext's Credit Card Surcharge please click here to read.

 

Q: Can I use the Product Markup Fee and Credit Card Surcharge at the same time?

  • A: Yes, the Product Markup fee applies to the order's Product Subtotal. The Credit Card Surcharge applies after the Product Markup is calculated, applying to the order's Grand Total.

 

Q: Does the Product Markup Fee work on Proposals?

  • A: For Proposals please use the Charges feature to add custom labeled fees and charges.
